At Deledao, we take student data privacy seriously.
As an EdTech company providing innovative content filtering and classroom management solutions, we understand the importance of safeguarding sensitive information and ensuring compliance with federal and state laws. In this blog post, we will outline our approach to student data privacy, adherence to key federal laws, and commitment to industry standards, such as the Student Privacy Pledge.
Our General Approach to Student Data Privacy
Deledao is fully compliant with all U.S. federal and state laws concerning student data privacy. We prioritize collecting only the necessary data and acting as data processors, not data owners. Rest assured, we never sell, share, or rent student data. When mentioning student data, we refer to personally identifiable information (PII).
FERPA Compliance
We are fully compliant with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), a federal law that safeguards personally identifiable student records. As an EdTech vendor, we only collect, use, and share student data for the original purpose of the agreed services with schools.
COPPA Compliance
Deledao also complies with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), which protects the rights of children under 13 when their personal information is knowingly collected. As an EdTech vendor, we do not use personally identifiable data for other commercial purposes besides providing school services. We also provide schools with our privacy policy, which includes information on what data is collected and how it is used in compliance with COPPA.
PPRA Compliance
PPRA refers to the “Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment.” This federal law has a clause on collecting, disclosing, and using personally identifiable student data for marketing purposes. Deledao does not collect any PII for marketing purposes.
HIPPA Compliance
HIPAA does not apply to our organization as any (mental) health records in our possession are considered student records that are subject to the regulations outlined in FERPA, to which we are fully compliant.
Commitment to State and Regional Laws
Deledao fully complies with various state laws, including Nevada’s NRS388, Illinois’s SOPPA, California’s CCPA, and New York Education Law 2-D. Additionally, we are happy to work with schools to sign individual Data Privacy Agreements (DPAs) that align with their state requirements.
Industry Standards and Pledge 2020
We hold ourselves to the highest standards by actively participating in industry initiatives. Deledao has signed the latest Student Privacy Pledge (Pledge 2020), a legally enforceable commitment to protect student data beyond federal laws. This pledge sets a universal standard for EdTech vendors, ensuring data protection regardless of geographical location.

As the educational landscape evolves, Deledao remains steadfast in its commitment to student data privacy.
Our dedication to compliance with federal and state laws, industry standards, and voluntary initiatives, such as the Student Privacy Pledge, underscores our mission to empower educators while keeping students safe.
